Integrated Communications System (ICS) Antarctic Vessel

SISDEF's integrated communications system for the AGB Almirante Viel comprises, across a total of 20 subsystems, all of the vessel's internal and external communications assets, the IT networks and systems, several satellite systems for communications and internet availability, modern telemedicine equipment and an internal information system for the crew, scientists and passengers on board.

SISDEF currently has integrated communications systems in operational service with the Chilean Navy and the Colombian Navy.

"Within the framework of the Exponaval 2024 exhibition, Lloyd's Register presented a plaque certifying the Chilean Navy icebreaker "Almirante Viel" as fit to operate in the demanding conditions of Antarctic waters. The ceremony took place at the stand of ASMAR (Astilleros y Maestranza de la Armada) and was led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Juan Andrés De La Maza, accompanied by the Director of ASMAR, Rear Admiral José Miguel Hernández, the Commanding Officer of the icebreaker, Captain Juan Pablo Enríquez, the Naval Business Manager of Lloyd's Register, Carlos Viviani, and various authorities and guests."
